Tea Time 3

We're slow, but back again, finally! We've both been very busy with everyday life! Still appreciating the beautiful things in life, but just not blogging about them!

Alma has got a wedding to plan now, so huge congratulations to Mrs Burton (to be) : ) Lots of creating to be doing and inspiration coming at us from every angle!

A gorgeous but simple back drop, and a great way to use paper. And a lovely handmade font!

Thank you to 100 Layer Cake for your inspiration.

One of the best ideas we've ever seen! So clever and sentimental, a new way of appreciating old photographs.

Amazing, and an amazing blog.

Something that makes our stomachs go funny when we watch it, so so cool, imagine seeing it in real life!

We can't even begin to imagine how you can make something like these, with impeccable attention to detail... very talented.

Thanks to Joanna Goddard.

Just to share a beautiful sight right from my living room, wow! Thanks to Portugal!

Thanks for looking, we'll try harder to be more frequent from now on!

Tea Time 2

It's taken a while but here are images of things we shared over tea time 2!
We've had a chance to visit some interesting flea markets, car boot sales and second hand shops, where we found some lovely things.
We hope you appreciate them as much as we do.

a - I’m a bit obsessed at the moment with collecting vases, jugs and glasses to put flowers in and I love these three I bought the other day at the flea market. The colour on the pink vase is so subtle and I love the patterns on the other two. Although one has quite an intricate design and the other a simple one they both manage to look so lovely and delicate.

a - I also bought these bags a few weeks back and what are bargain they were. I was first drawn to the way they are held together with bakers twine. When I saw the logo on the bottom and the cute shape of the bags I just had to buy them. The lady who sold them to me said they were ‘so lovely and old’ and this is the perfect way to describe them!

a - Another library find and I think I like this book, 'Stars' by H. A. Rey, even more then the last. The font used for the title is just gorgeous and there is page after page of beautiful illustrations showing the constellations and planetary tables. I will certainly be getting this book out again, especially when I need cheering up.

This is a joint entry as we both think these portraits are just amazing.

It must have taken such a long time and great skill to complete them. Thanks to Joanna Goddard at Cup of Jo http://joannagoddard.blogspot.com/ for bringing them to our attention.

v - I found these and fell in love with them, each coaster has a different butterfly behind glass, so beautiful that the once living creatures are treasured and can still be appreciated for their beauty. And you can never have enough coasters!

v - There's something about maps... perhaps its the traveller in me or the way they always look like works of art! This little atlas has some lovely illustrations and colour schemes. I love second hand books for the names and scribbles you sometimes find written inside the covers.

v - I've just been introduced to lomography, and I'm in love! For those of you who don't know about it check out the website: http://www.lomography.com/
My local lomography shop set up a themed competition and you could hire a camera from the shop to take your pictures and enter them in the competition. I hired a Diana Mini and entered some pictures but sadly didn't win. However, here's one of my favourite double exposures. A big thanks to Kaiah the French Bulldog for being my model!

Postcard Swap

In April we took part in a postcard swap, each participant has to make 10 postcards, we produced 10 collectively from Grannified.
It's a worldwide project for crafty people, so the postcards were sent to people all over the world and we received 10 back.
It was a great project to participate in and really gave us something to work towards.

A big thank you to Hanna who organises it all, we look forward to taking part next year.  And thanks to all the people who sent us postcards, we hope you like ours!

Here's Hanna's blog, take a look: iHanna's blog.

And here are the postcards we made:

It's our first Tea Time!

Although we have shared many a cup of tea together we have never put our witterings up on a blog until now. Vicki and I love Skype because we can talk for as long as we like and show each other the nice things that we have found/seen that week, so we thought we would do the same with you.

We hope you enjoy our tea time musings; we’ll try and put them up as often as possible.

Cotton Reel Holder

v - Just a sentimental thing to share, found in my Nanna's belongings, a cotton reel holder complete with old wooden cotton reels!  This will be treasured and hung on the wall for me to appreciate every day!

Cute Flowers

v - Love these little white flowers, love these ones even more as they're a present, aww! Trying to grow some of my own, planted the seeds yesterday so fingers crossed!

Postcard - (details from 'crazy patchwork' bag with mostly hand-embroidered silks 1930-40)

v - A postcard sent from the lovely Meggie (currently living in Santa Cruz, CA) from Nottingham Museum's Costume Collection, England. Something that reminded her of me.

Laundrette

v - An old laundrette in the next town from me, makes a great pic!

Seed Paper

v - The first time I've seen one of these promotional 'seeds in paper' things (maybe something that hasn't made it into Portugal yet!)... plant in soil and watch it grow!  Watch this space then! Another cool gift from Meggie.

Book – ‘Birds Eat and Eat and Eat’ by Roma Gans and illustrated by Ed Emberley

a – I found this book and just think the illustrations are beautiful. I love how sketchy the pictures are and the way it’s been printed. The title is just perfect too. I borrowed it from the library so will be very sad when I have to give it back. I’ll certainly be on the look out for more books illustrated by Ed Emberley.

Mini Doilies and Flower

a – I found these at a flea market last weekend and have a few already. I think they are for doll houses which I’ve never been a massive fan of, but I love how delicate they are.

Mini-Shelves

a – I also bought this set of mini-shelves (I’m sorry I don’t know what else to call them) I’ve wanted one of these for ages and can’t wait to fill it up with lovely things and hang it on the wall.

More Cute Flowers

a – Vicki and I are officially fans of flowers and I am so happy these grape hyacinths are every where at the moment. I can’t get enough of the almost cornflower blue colour of the flowers and will definitely be buying a few more. Spring is here, yeah!!!
